South African Art at Linteloo

IS Art Gallery is situated in the picturesque town of Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands of South Africa. Ilse Schermers, the owner of the gallery, started her career in art more than three decades ago. IS Art has established itself as one of the prominent art galleries in exhibiting and promoting the work of leading and emerging South African contemporary artists. Ilse Schermers is responsible for establishing one of the first contemporary sculpture gardens in the Cape. She is currently curating the sculpture garden at the magnificent Tokara Wine Estate where exhibitions of sculpture are presented on a regulare basis. For each sculpture a catalogue is published.

Linteloo and Ilse Schermers met twenty years ago when Jan te Lintelo and his partner Lars acquired a beautiful property in Cape Town and commissioned the award winning architect Anja van den Merwe (Van de Merwe Miszewski Architects) to design their well-documented ‘Bridge House’. Whilst the building was in progress, Jan and Lars started a collection of art for their home. The combination of Linteloo design furniture and the art pieces from IS Art Gallery has resulted in a beautiful combination. Jan, Lars and Ilse have formed an enduring professional and personal relationship over the past two decades.

The idea of an exhibiton in Holland came to light a number of years ago and Jan, Lars and Ilse selected their favourite pieces to show at the Linteloo Showroom in Zeist.
