Faas van Dijk

In the early Nineties, the legendary furniture shop ‘Het Binnenhuis’ was the place to be in Amsterdam if you were looking for top design. Upstairs, a young Faas van Dijk (1959) set up his interior design business, Food for Building. Entirely self-taught, Faas created a growing collection of chairs, cabinets, beds and tables that could effortlessly hold their own amidst the great Italian brands sold in the shop.

Whereas his earlier work was inspired by the likes of Jean-Michel Frank and Christian Liaigre, Faas soon found his own voice: one of clear lines and an ambitious use of materials.

In 2007, Faas was the first designer approached by Linteloo to design a collection for their Verden range—a platform for young designers, allowing them to test their own limits, using our knowledge and expertise.

Sadly, Faas passed away in 2012, but his designs are as fresh as the day they were born.
